When Pete was in his early 20s he had a 15 year old girlfriend who he fell out with, which was also well documented on livejournal. Probably the source of the lyric “You call me a bad tipper of the cradle” from The Carpal Tunnel of Love.
Everyone probably knows this one but Hum Hallelujah is about Pete’s suicide attempt around the time of his divorce from ashley simpson. He was in his car in the parking lot of a CVS (what store it was probably changes depending on what corner of the internet you get this from. I’ve heard it was a Blockbuster before) when the song “Hallelujah” started playing on the radio. He was going to overdose on pills (atavan?) but the song struck a chord with him and he decided not to.
